Verve, Ann Arbor

VERVE, Ann Arbor is a student housing community envisioned and designed by ESG Architecture & Design for Subtext, situated within walking distance of campus and Main Street’s boutique shops and restaurants. The interiors reflect an energetic collegiate atmosphere grounded by a warm, modern palette of soft neutrals layered with saturated accent tones and expressive patterns. Materials shift intentionally from space to space, pairing smooth architectural finishes with tactile textiles and dimensional surfaces to create contrast and movement. Artwork and graphic moments carry a playful narrative throughout the building, giving each environment its own personality while maintaining a cohesive visual identity.

Throughout the community, furnishings were curated to shape how students gather, focus and recharge rather than simply fill space. Study lounges encourage both collaboration and quiet concentration, while social areas transition comfortably from daytime productivity to evening connection. Hutch Contract worked alongside ESG Architecture & Design to translate the design intent into fully realized environments, coordinating furniture selections and layouts that support flexibility, durability and everyday use, ensuring the spaces function naturally for the rhythms of student life.
