Archive Apartments is a multifamily community envisioned and designed by Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture for Arch Icon, set within the historic renovation of the former Federal Courthouse and Post Office in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The interiors thoughtfully celebrate the building’s legacy, using a refined color palette of warm neutrals, rich wood tones and deeper accent hues to create a sense of depth and continuity throughout the spaces. Textures play a meaningful role in shaping the experience, pairing tactile upholstery with layered materials and classic finishes that honor the building’s architectural heritage while supporting contemporary living. Carefully curated artwork and material transitions help guide the visual narrative, reinforcing Archive Apartments’ unique character and connection to place.

Furnishings throughout the community were selected to support both everyday living and social gathering, creating environments that feel welcoming, comfortable and intentional. Shared amenity areas, lounges, and social zones were composed with a focus on balance, blending timeless forms with modern function and durability. Hutch Contract partnered closely with Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture to bring the design vision to life, sourcing and procuring furniture and accessories that align with the architectural intent and reinforce the narrative of transformation, ensuring Archive Apartments feels both rooted in history and exceptionally livable.
