Sliding Into Style: Student Housing at Purdue
Located on Purdue University’s campus in West Lafayette, Indiana, VERVE: West Lafayette is student housing, reimagined.
We had the privilege of teaming up with Subtext and the talented designers from ESG Architecture & Design, Joanna Svendsen and Frances Stuebe, to bring this project to life. We especially loved creating custom furniture pieces at the designers’ request.
Furnishing the lobby, leasing offices, social lounge, study areas and the outdoor pool deck was an incredible opportunity to blend playful amenities with hardworking spaces.
Step into the lobby and you’ll find one of VERVE’s most talked-about features: a spiral slide connecting the second floor with the first.
We also loved the smaller study nooks tucked within the staircase – a clever way to maximize space and encourage focus.
To complement this unique design, we furnished the lobby with a mix of custom and sourced pieces: a powder-coated cocktail round side table, custom coffee tables, playful rugs scattered throughout, Hightower Nest Easy Lounge Chairs, custom sofas and custom work tables. The end result is a warm, welcoming space that balances energy and comfort.
We also outfitted the leasing office, ensuring the brand experience flows seamlessly from the first interaction through every part of the community.
The social lounge is a hub for connection and collaboration. We filled the space with custom tables, a modular custom sofa, rugs, coffee tables and even a custom pool table. For added style and durability, we also incorporated Hightower counter stools.
When it comes time to hit the books, VERVE doesn’t disappoint. We sourced Blu Dot Host Task Chairs, paired them with several custom meeting tables and layered in other unique pieces to make study spaces as inspiring as they are functional.
Finally, the outdoor pool deck brings the “play harder” energy. Here, we leaned on Babmar for sofas, loveseats, and chairs, while scattering in Blu Dot dining chairs and tables for a cohesive and inviting atmosphere.
Every corner of VERVE West Lafayette was designed with students in mind. Spaces where they can live, lounge and thrive. We’re grateful to Subtext and ESG for their collaboration on this project and thrilled to have played a part in creating such a vibrant community.
